Text Slides 

You can make text slides for your iPhone using TextEdit. These are nice for slide shows or (god forbid) using your iPhone to flash a screen size "Hi" or an emoticon across a crowded bar at someone you want to meet. (Oh grow up!)

Open TextEdit and type your text.
Press Apple-T to call up the Text window.
Format your font, color and page color. (A black page and light letters tends to look classy. Make the font large to huge so it will show on the iPhone screen.)
Add some space around it with a return and a tab before it.
Put a few returns after the text to move the cursor away from the message.
Press Apple-Shift-4.
Use the crosshairs to draw a box around the message and take a screenshot.
It was appear as Picture ? on your desktop.
Drag the picture into a folder in iPhoto that you plan to sync to your iPhone.
Incidentally, yellow letters on a black background show up best across a crowded bar.

If you're on Vista you'll find the few posts that are Maccentric marked with  at the end of the title so you can easily skip them. If anyone would like to contribute Vista or Linux methods, click my name below and email me the precise steps.
